HOUSE DUST ANALYSIS AT THE MUSEUM GLASKASTEN
Skulpturenmuseum Glaskasten Marl
Installation: Glass case, argon laser, camera module, monitor wall
The dust collected in the museum is stored in a glass case and there swirled around by a mini ventilator. The laser’s highly bundled light “analyses” the dust particles floating in the air. The activity in the laser beam is greatly enlarged via a video camera (installed at a right angle) and transmitted onto the monitor wall. Since the laser beam is very bright and thin and the dust flies through the tiny light corridor in fractions of a second, the particles glow like the flash of shooting stars, only to be immediately “extinguished”. Whereby for several seconds the dazzling white particles of dust shine in an afterglow on the dark TV screen.
